Scope of this chapter

This quick guide explains how the manual works.

Welcome to the latest edition of this online Nottingham City Children’s Services Procedures Manual (developed with tri.x). In this edition of the manual a number of chapters have been amended and these are listed below, see Section 2, Amendments.

The Manual has been updated to a newer format and a Local Resources section has been added to the manual

These procedures use the word ‘must’ where the provision is a legal requirement. The word ‘should’ is used where the provision should be complied with but is not a legal requirement, such as where it is taken from non-statutory government guidance or accepted good practice.

The next Edition of this manual is scheduled to be published in May 2025. In order to be included in next edition of the manual it will be necessary for any new or amended content to be notified to tri.x by the end of March 2025.

Any new material must be submitted in MS Word or PDF format and any amended chapters must be submitted in MS Word format with the alterations set out using the "track changes" feature. Unfortunately, material set out in any other way cannot be processed.

This manual contains a local resource section which can be accessed via the navigation bar. This library is populated and maintained locally. If there is a resource that you think should be added talk in the first instance to your manager.

The manual is accessed by readers who may find terms that they are not familiar with. Therefore, a glossary of definitions is available under the resource tab.

There is also a National Contacts resource populated with details of key national agencies and organisations likely to be relevant to procedures user.

Every effort has been taken to ensure regulatory compliance. If you discover any errors or omissions, please alert your manager.
